*What Does Your Stuff Say About You?

Although I feel like this is a fairly popular topic in magazines and online today (in fact, a new book was published on this topic back in May), I have to admit I’ve never actually read any of the articles.  However, as I’ve been preparing to move into a new, much smaller, apartment, and as I’ve been looking at my stuff and trying to figure out what things I need to get rid of to save space and what essential things I need to get, I’ve realized that maybe the stuff you own really does say something about you!

For example, while taking inventory of my kitchen stuff, I realized that I have:

  • zero forks
  • zero knifes
  • zero spoons
  • one pot
  • one pan
  • two bowls
  • two plates
  • four plastic cups

and

  • eleven coffee mugs!
The newest mug in the collection, this was a recent gift from one of my students.

I don’t think it takes a Ph.D. in psychology to see that I love coffee!
