*One Year in Seattle.

It’s hard to believe I’ve lived in Seattle for a year now… and what a year it’s been! Last year at this time I had lived here for only a few days, I was working as a live-in nanny, I had no friends, and I was getting lost on a regular basis (i.e., almost every time I got in the car). Now I have some really wonderful friends, I know my way all over the city, and I’m working at an English school, teaching students from all over the world. (I’ve had students from four different continents so far: Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America).

I finished my first year of grad school about a month ago; it’s nice to have a break right now! I’ve learned a lot from my program, but maybe even more from actually teaching. As they say, ‘experience is the best teacher.’ It is fun though to talk about an activity at school and then try it with my students to see how it really works.

I have another month before school starts. It’s really nice to just be a teacher for a little while instead of teaching and studying! Next weekend I’m going to Vancouver, BC to help a friend move up there. Then, I’m flying south to spend a few days in SC visiting family & friends. (And hopefully going to the SC-UGA game)! Then it’s back to school for a while. I have a year and a half left before I graduate and move on to the next adventure!
